Volkswagen deploys 9.5 MW solar to power plant

Volkswagen (FWB: VOW) has opened a 9.5 MW solar park, which is set to power its manufacturing plant in Tennessee, US.

The German car manufacturer’s solar system will also power up 1,200 homes around the plant and will contain 33,600 solar modules from JA Solar.

The solar park, which came online Wednesday, produces enough power to meet 12.5 per cent of its manufacturing plant's electricity during full production and 100 per cent during non-production periods.
