MTN agrees to sell carbon credits to trigen plant

South African telecommunications group MTN has made a commercial agreement to sell carbon credits from its new trigeneration plant to EDF Trading, a subsidiary of Electricite de France SA.

The methane power plant at its Johannesburg office produces 2 MW of the 4 MW energy consumption.

MTN announced that the emissions reduction purchase agreement would allow EDF Trading to purchase all the credits from the plant until 2020.
