Japan’s Marubeni wins cogeneration contract in Singapore

Marubeni has won a contract for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) worth about $220m for stage two of TP Utilities’ (TPU) biomass and clean coal cogeneration plant in Singapore.

TPU is building an integrated utility complex to provide one-stop utility solutions to companies in the Tembusu area of Jurong Island, which the Singapore government plans to convert into a new petrochemical sector.

Stage 2A of the project will comprise one CFB boiler with a capacity of 450 t/hr, a 32.5 MW turbine generator and another gas-fired boilers with a capacity of 200 t/hr to TPU’s BMCC Cogeneration Plant. This new expansion project is scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2014.

Director of TP Utilities Lim Kong Puay said, “We forged a good working relationship with Marubeni while working on stage one of our Tembusu project. The continuation of this relationship to the next stage will enable us to complete the project smoothly and successfully”.
