KDC Solar launches 9.7 MW on-site solar project

KDC Solar LLC has awarded SPI Solar the engineering, procurement and construction contract to design and construct a large-scale distributed generation solar energy facility in New Jersey, US.

The solar facility will supply power to a subsidiary of an international pharmaceutical company’s corporate headquarters.

Through a long-term power purchase agreement, the pharmaceutical company will buy the power generated by the solar project from KDC Solar.

SPI Solar will also provide long-term operations and maintenance services for the facility, which will be powered by LDK modules.

The project is the result of a three-year agreement between SPI, KDC Solar and LDK Solar that established SPI as the preferred engineering services provider to KDC with a minimum commitment by KDC to offer 150 MW of projects to SPI over 36 months.

The agreement also set a goal for KDC and SPI to potentially develop a total of 300 MW in solar projects across the states of New Jersey and New York.
