Wood Group signs O&M contract for Australian gold mine plant

Wood Group GTS has signed a five-year operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement with Newcrest Mining Ltd to provide mobilization and complete care, custody and control services for the primary and secondary power stations at its Telfer gold mine.
Newcrest is Australia’s largest gold producer and its Telfer gold mine is located in the Pilbara district of Western Australia.
The primary plant is a 138 MW dual fuel (natural gas/diesel) electricity generation facility consisting of three GE LM6000 PC gas turbines.
The secondary plant is a 13 MW diesel-fired electricity generation facility comprising six reciprocating diesel engines.
A reliable and continuous power supply is critical to operations at the gold mine.
