The patent pending designs are geared to an increased need for critical equipment scheduled maintenance including BOPS - their main components being piston accumulators.
Common maintenance interval between overhauls is 5 year. Problems occur due to the large threads sometimes exceeding 18 in. diameter which is susceptible to offshore corrosion even when made out of common subsea grades of stainless steel.
Piston accumulator design is said to take the issue of corroded large threads out of the equation. The configuration makes piston accumulator service less complicated: Disassembly times can be measured in minutes - instead of weeks, declares the manufacturer.
Maintenance is also accomplished via common offshore tooling. This allows accumulator disassembly, inspection, seals replacement, and reassembly in a fraction of the time.
