All-natural Kenaf-based drilling mud additives reduce fluid loss well

DrillWall drilling mud additive "was recently tested in the lab by a major drilling fluids company and found to provide up to 50% reduction in fluid loss, compared to current mud additives, in sand pack tests using a water-based system." The all-natural, kenaf-based formulation was developed in response to costly operational expenses, equipment inefficiencies, and increased risk when drilling fluids seep into surrounding formations, notes the manufacturer. They are currently offering the product to U.S.-based drilling partners for qualified field testing.

DrillWall creates a nonpermeable filter barrier (filter cake) more quickly than other mud components. This reduces fluid loss and keeps more fluid within the borehole. It also helps lubricate and cool the drill bit to prevent differential sticking.
