New Tracera gas chromatographs are unveiled to "reveal trace components not easily detected by other devices."
They are high-sensitivity instruments based on GC-2010 Plus and integrate a new BID-2010 Plus barrier discharge ionization detector. This especially suits them for light hydrocarbons, organic compounds, and permanent gases analysis.
BID-2010 Plus is a universal detector that incorporates plasma technology. It creates ionization from a helium-based, dielectric barrier discharge plasma. Compounds that elute from the GC column are ionized by the helium plasma energy, detected by the collection electrode, and processed as peaks.
BID enables trace impurity analysis with detection sensitivity reported 100-times higher than thermal conductivity detector analysis. It also permits ppm-level trace-component analysis not possible by TCD.
