Modular gas-to-liquids design combines stages into one process

Modular gas-to-liquids plants combine both GTL stages into one "highly efficient, closely integrated system that provides high levels of volumetric efficiency, safety, and reliability," it's announced.

GTL designs are an alternative to gas flaring. They incorporate all aspects required for commercial application in treating associated gas at remote onshore and offshore locations. These include pretreatment, preforming, reforming, waste heat recovery, process steam generation, syngas compression, Fischer Tropsch synthesis, FT cooling water system, and tail gas recycling which can be integrated to a host facility or operated as stand-alone.

Modular GTL configurations convert associated gas into syncrude for blending with natural crude. This eliminates the need for additional transportation and storage infrastructure or access to market for converted product.

This GTL technology features proprietary catalysts and reactor designs derived from plate and fin heat exchanger manufacturing techniques. Modular plant design incorporates multiple reactors in parallel. This provides flexibility and operability to accommodate gas feed variation and decline over oilfield life.
