Corlan wireless corrosion and erosion monitoring systems are illustrated and concisely described in this free datasheet. Through a self-healing network of permanently installed, wireless-enabled ultrasonic thickness gauges — trends in pipe wall thickness are cost effectively monitored for corrosion and erosion, it’s noted. This information allows a proactive approach in the planning of turnarounds and preventive action.
Developed to overcome challenges and improve the way pipeline asset integrity is monitored, Corlan uses ultrasonic sensors placed on pipe at specific thickness measurement locations or areas of high risk and concern. They’re commanded to take measurements at set intervals or on-demand. Pipe wall thickness measurements at each specific location are sent back to a central point over RF mesh network. Corrosion and erosion trends together with the proximity of pipe safety limits can be deduced.
