Patent pending SMFL Spiral Magnetic Flux Leakage inspection tools combine MFL and TFI capabilities for outstanding detection, it’s announced.
New SMFL is designed to detect long, narrow defects in a pipe body and in long seam welds. With it, operators can detect and characterize a wider range of pipeline defects than previously possible, reports the maker.
The high-resolution tools offer benefits: TFI technology relies on two magnetizers while SMFL requires one. It can be paired with MFL technology without having to extend tool length. With up to 750 samples/sec frequency, SMFL operates over 300 to 2,000 psi and inline over 14° to 131°F. It has a 1.5D minimum bend radius and travels at up to 8.3 ft/sec. Complete details are free.
