CeraMem silicon carbide membranes are now on the market for both upstream and downstream oil and gas applications. Their use in offshore produced water applications was announced at OTC.
The new line of ceramic oxide membranes are employed in microfiltration and ultrafiltration: separation of feed streams and/or operating environments not suitable for conventional ceramic and polymeric membrane systems.
In 0.2µm MF and 50-nm UF pore sizes, CeraMem tolerates operation across full 0 to 14 pH. It allows routine use of aggressive cleaning methods including caustic soda.
Membrane aqueous chemical stability offers improved productivity for in oily wastewaters uses. This includes deoiling oilfield produced water, desalter bottoms treatment, as well as metal working fluids treatment.
