Rockwool Marine Acoustic Foil is a strong, thin, and durable film which resists oil, oil mist, water, and most substances in an engine room environment. It’s available to effectively absorb sound in engine rooms, cargo pump rooms, or similar noisy locations.
It covers fire protecting Rockwool insulation and is then covered by a perforated steel plate. The systems have been tested for surface flammability, according to IMO Res MSC.61(67), annex 1 part 5 and IMO Res 653(16) by the Danish Institute of Fire Technology. The result is full compliance with SOLAS.
Using Rockwool Marine Acoustic Foil system, noise reduction properties of the Rockwool material will remain, according to the manufacturer.
Among numerous system advantages are optimal sound properties, oil/oil mist resistance, tested and approved to SOLAS FTP-coded for surface flammability, and easy installation. Among acoustic foil technical data are thickness of 19µ in roll dimensions of 1 m wide x 200 m long. The perforated steel plate is minimum 1 mm thick with open area maximum 40% perforation.
Additional engine room sound absorption information is free upon request.
