Drill riser buoyancy modules take 5,000 psi at 11,000 ft

These new syntactic foam drill riser buoyancy modules are developed for deep water exploration: nearly 5,000 psi ( 350 bar) at 11,000 ft (3,350 m).

They are constructed from low-density composite syntactic foam and macrospheres. The foam is then encased within a durable external skin which includes this manufacturer’s Ultra MIS module integrity system. These newest modules were designed and manufactured for Transocean Inc. for use in the Indian Ocean on Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1 deepwater rig.
