Oil, gas sensed, detected in deep underwater environments

Newly developed QMax EM3 ocean-bottom electromagnetic receivers detect underwater oil and gas 

deposits. They are designed to offer improved operational efficiency, safety, and more comprehensive data quality.

QMax EM3 provides a new class of integrated electric and magnetic field sensors and integrated measurement systems, declares its developer. System electrodes are stored within the instrument — yet it weighs about 150 kg. They are unaffected by sunlight or water chemistry, and are up to 10-times smaller than other electrodes. They do not need to be stored in water and no assembly time is required. The receiver size makes them more hydrodynamic to shorten drop time and lead to more accurate ocean floor placements.
